Navigating the economic "rough waters" of the past several years has been a tremendous challenge for machine tool distributors. For many, adapting sales strategies to the "new economy" and adjusting business practices to "weather the storm" became insurmountable challenges. Two machine tool distributors who decided to close their doors generously share their lessons learned. Tom Wurm, who served on AMTDA's Board of Directors 1987-1990), operated H & K Machine Tool, a distributorship in Charlotte, NC. Gary Bloxham, former owner Seattle-based Perine Machine Tool, was chairman of AMTDA's Certification Committee in 1999
